Bologna
Bologna is without a doubt the gastronomic capital of Italy. Its worth making the stop just for the food. Its not nicknamed La Grassa (the fat) for no reason!
They are most famous for al Ragu or Bolognese sauce but dont miss the handmade tortellini, mortadella or the cotoletta di pollo. In addition to the food, there are definitely many sites to be seen here as well including the Two Towers, Piazza Maggiore and the University (the oldest University in the world founded in 1088).
